Status Update on the Replacement of Well 11
Progress Report
Introduction
As you know, the replacement of Well 11critical project and the first step in the plans to enhance the water supply infrastructure for the District. This document provides a comprehensive update on the progress, challenges, and future steps in the replacement of Well 11.
Project Update
We are happy to announce that the drilling of Well 11rr (information below) is scheduled to begin this month! Please note the dates below are subject to change; we will put any updates on the District’s website.
Initial mobilization is scheduled to start Monday, April 14th. This will include bringing the equipment on site and the initial set up. Once that is done, work will be put on hold over the holiday weekend. The full drilling process is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 21st. Once that starts it will be a 24-hour operation until the full depth of the well has been met.
Review of Challenges
During the removal of the test pump equipment, a catastrophic failure in the elevator assembly (which is used to raise and lower the pipe in and out of the well) caused the pump, motor, drop pipe, transducer, and wiring to drop back down to the bottom of the well. This caused significant damage to the drop pipe, and likely the screened portion in the production zone of the well.
Attempts to remove the equipment lost in the well took place over the next several weeks. As part of this process, a video camera was sent down into the well to observe the location of the items. In reviewing this video, it was observed that there were two leaks in the new pipe. In November 2024, the Board deemed the contractor's recovery efforts unsuccessful and informed the contractor that the well would not be accepted.
Conclusion
Despite the unforeseen calamity and the subsequent delays, the replacement of Well 11 is progressing. Upon completion, it will put us back on track with the overall objective of the public water system improvement project for our community.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance our community.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of Creekside Estates South Metropolitan District
